Taking the first step to seek counseling can be very difficult. I approach each client with kindness and sincerity. I will provide a safe, warm and open space, free from judgment and criticism. I feel that developing a positive connection, and establishing a healthy, therapeutic relationship, healing can take place.
I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, but am not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; connections to one’s behaviors, life patterns and themes with the intent of being able to make healthy changes through awareness, Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); treating not only trauma, but anxiety, grief, professional development, and self-esteem issues. I also include body awareness, grounding, psycho-education, coping strategies and self-care.
I believe that as human beings we are incredibly resilient however, life can throw a variety of challenges, and as those challenges accrue, the body keeps score. As difficult life events, challenges, pain, and trauma occur, one’s body responds, reacts, and often will carry these experiences, negative beliefs, fears, feelings of shame, guilt, grief, etc. These difficult experiences and feelings can accumulate, and the body may express them through other symptoms such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sleep difficulties, physical symptoms, to name a few. By unpacking difficult memories, negative feelings, fears, emotional pain, and developing new, healthy perspectives, healing can occur and life satisfaction can improve.
With the right support, one can discover healthy, new perspectives, to open the door to finding hope, meaning and satisfaction in life.
